The Head Royce Robohawks is a robotics club competing in Vex Robotics competitions. Founded in 2010, we have competed in State, National, and World Championships every year since. The Robohawks 8000 teams are ranked among the top 5 to 10 teams in the world out of over 16,000 teams from 29 countries.
All our teammates are students at the Head-Royce School, a K-12 independent school in Oakland, CA.
Each year, our teams design, build, test, and program robots to compete in a challenge that changes every year. The different challenges each year require different engineering solutions such as flywheels, catapults or punchers to shoot balls, pneumatic powered arms to grasp objects, or using the power of hundreds of rubber bands to launch stars across the field. We also program the robots to autonomously complete tasks for up to 60 seconds using gyroscopes, and motion and vision sensors.
